This is an informal competition which takes place at those monthly meetings at which magic is performed by members. At the end of such nights the Chairman chooses one of the tricks performed that evening as the Trick of the Month. Each September a competition for the Trick of the Year is held. This competition is open to all those who won the Trick of the Month competition during the previous twelve months. Competitors must perform the same trick as that with which they won the Trick of the Month. The prize for the Trick of the Year is the Billy Nicholl Trophy.
