Gala Show -
"A Magical Comedy Spectacular"

Martyn James and Company, the current British Magical Champions have now been confirmed as the closing act on our Sunday night Gala Show.
 
They will be joining Wayne Dobson, Gazzo and compere John Archer.
 
Also travelling to us are FISM award winner The Great Nardini and immaculate manipulator Brian Sefton.
 
From closer to home come young Irish Magicienne Lisa Hogan and Fred Corvenio with a unique musical speciality act.
 
As usual variety will be provided by Bangor's McMaster Stage School and Ian Bell will be at the keyboards.


Background


The Irish Ring (Ring No. 85) of the International Brotherhood of Magicians hold a convention every year. The three main magical societies in Ireland take turns to host the convention and so the convention is held in Northern Ireland every three years, Dublin and Limerick being the other two venues. Venue


The Convention will return to the same venue as 2001, The Clandeboye Lodge Hotel, Bangor and all events will take place under one roof.
 
A major refurbishment of the convention centre is now complete,  providing even better facilities which are ours exclusively for the convention weekend.
 
This includes ground floor facilities on both evenings and tired seating for all lectures and close-up events.
 
As it is a Bank Holiday Weekend the Headquarers hotel is now fully booked except for the Sunday night (as @ 02/04/04) . You could risk waiting for cancellations (we wouldn't !) or try one of the links below.
 
Unfortunately there is no alternative accommodation within walking distance but ten minutes by taxi will take you to central Bangor or Newtownards.

Stars of Magic


Lecturers and Performers - John Archer , Gazzo and Wayne Dobson

Already confirmed to appear at the convention so far are John Archer (far left) Gazzo (near left).and Wayne Dobson.

John seems to have won every comedy award going, as well as a BAFTA for his scriptwriting.

Gazzo is still the original and best Street Magician and will be offering a two hour masterclass on the Cups and Balls on Saturday morning as an extra fee event (£20) for a maximum of 15 people as well as his lecture and performance for all conventioneers.
 
Wayne should  need no introduction. We are particularly glad to welcome him to his first Irish Convention

Competitions

Stage and Close up Competitions will take place on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon respectively for a glittering array of trophies.
