Ted Oldham Memorial Lecture 2018 – Sooty Ungloved – Saturday 10th March
This year Sooty celebrates his 70thbirthday. But his journey has not always been easy and behind the PR spin the Corbett family hit many obstacles along the way. When Richard Cadell purchased the rights in 2008 he learned the surprising true story behind The Sooty Show and indeed embarked on his own rollercoaster ride to bring Sooty back to our television screens. With very rare archive footage and some fascinating props this talk will celebrate the remarkable career of one of the most influential magicians of our time…Sooty! – with a chance to meet the little bear himself.
Please note that this is not intended as a Children’s event and is definitely NOT a performance with Sooty and Sweep. In order to preserve the magic admittance is restricted to those over 14 years of age only.
We are delighted that Richard has agreed to be our Ted Oldham Memorial lecturer this year. The lecture has had great reviews everywhere it has been presented and will appeal to magicians and non-magicians alike.
The lecture will take place on the day of the annual dinner. It is being held in the Parador Hotel, Ormeau Road, Belfast commencing at 2.00 p.m. It is free to anybody attending the dinner that evening and £5 to everybody else. Why not make an afternoon of it by coming to the Parador early and having lunch and/or a few drinks?

As usual, we will be having a ballot at the dinner. This has always been one of the highlights of our dinner nights. Its success depends on the generosity of those who donate prizes. Please consider being one of them this year. Thank you!
